A fireproof tarp is a specially treated fabric to resist fire and limit the risk of fire. The fireproofing process involves applying a chemical treatment to the material in order to reduce its combustibility and slow down the spread of flames in case of fire.

This treatment makes the tarpaulin non-combustible or flame-retardant, depending on the level of protection sought. There are several classification levels ( standard NF P92-507), including fireproofed tarps M0 (non-combustible) and M1 (hardly flammable), both designed to meet current fire safety standards.

An M0 fireproof welding sheet is specially designed to offer maximum protection against heat, sparks and weld or grinding spatters. Its M0 classification means that it is non-combustible and does not spread flames in direct contact with fire. Unlike a PVC tarpaulin, it withstands very high temperatures without deteriorating or emitting toxic gases. When not in use, the tarp should be stored flat or rolled up, in a dry and ventilated place, away from moisture and UV rays.
